1806 Prussians Defeat in the Battle of Jena and Auerstedt

As a small side project i am painting a little force of 1-72/20mm 1806 Prussians in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt. The battle was fought between Napoleons French versus an Alliance of Prussia and Saxony. For more information please visit:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Jena-Auerstedt

I got ten miniatures from Christian for free and after some reading this idea was born. Except the General on horse (Italeri) are all miniatures from HäT (Set 8083 1806 Prussian Musketeers). Sculpts are okay but it is very exhausting to cut all flashs!! Additionally painting faces and eyes is very challanging. So can not advise without reservation.

In order to cut a long story short, here is the picture of the current WIP status:

I cannot say where the house is from, but it looks very authentic and historical correct to me.

Comments, hints and critics are welcome too :)

Basic Impetus Fantastikus Update

A small update. The first base is nearly done. Its an element CP Heavy Cavalry. The last rider and flag bearer´s arm must be painted. Maybe i need some gras or reed for the border of the riverbed. What do you think? Please do not pay so much attention to the painting because i painted the figs more then ten years ago and i would paint them different today.

I tried Vallejo Water Effects first time on a bigger surface. HETAIROI WARGAMES wrote a nice tutorial about how to use. But my experiences do not correspont with his. My river needed more than three weeks until he was totally dry!!! So be careful - its not as easy as he says!!

Next one is an element of CL Light Cavalry. Its very WIP.

Hope you like it. Comments, critics and hints are welcome ;)

Basic Impetus Fantastikus

Some days ago i found the ruleset of Basic Impetus. The rules are okay but not more and i decided to lay them apart. But now i found the Fantasy rules which allow you to create elements/unit with special abilities. In my opinion these rules are superb because i ever wanted a balanced system with the ability to create my own army.

So i stepped down in my hobby room, looked in my glas cabinet and found some GW Bretonnians i painted ten years ago with a thick layer of dust. They will have a new use.

You see two elements of bows (T), knights (CP), unmounted knights (FP)and helbardiers (FP). In addition i will take three elements of light cavalry (CL), one more helbardier (FP) a giant (monster), aerial hero, some wizards and mounted heroes and flyers!

You can download the rules for free and you need the basic impetus ruleset, the fantasy ruleset and the point system ruleset (in order to create troops). Download the here: dadiepiombo
and here: impetus-tabletopregeln-und-varianten-fuer-fantasy

Happy reading!

Back from the DBA 15mm Tournament at Ulm...

Back from the DBA 15mm Tournament at Ulm first i have to say: BIG BIG thank you Norbert for the excellent location, organisation and hospitality. The 15mm march tournament is always a pleasure to be at. Like the last year there came 18 peoples from Swiss, Germany and Great Britain (who live in G.)!

The atmosphere was very friendly and we heared a lot of broad laughter and victory screams ;)

I started with my Thracians and i have enjoyed playing them. If you are interested in following my battles at the tournament please feel free to visit the battlereport i wrote here:

My Thracians also shared the "BEST PAINTED ARMY AWARD" with SirTobi's beautiful French Ordonnance IV/82a army, which can be seen here:

Thanks for all your votes! You made me very proud!

DBA 15mm Thracians I/48

I did it! Yesterday i made the last stand ready for battle. But cut to the case here are the pics:

The army consists of:

1x3 Cavalry (General)
3x2 Light horse (i took them as Scythian ally)
6x3 Auxilia (Warriors)
2x2 Psiloi

The Auxilia in combat formation.

Second rank Auxilias.

The Scythian ally.

The Generals element: The King of the Thracians with battlestandart and his young greek influenced sons.

Cloaks stitchery.

The Baggage elements. For play i just need one but i had so much civilians that i did a second one. Both are made "generic", without specific symbols, so i can use them for several armies. I especially like the small waterfall which is made of wad, a translucent plastic and varnish.

All army miniatures are from Xyston Miniatures, baggage miniatures are from Xyston Miniatures and Corvus Belli.

Hope you like it. Comments, hints and critics are welcome :)

Some scenic elements..

For my Thracian army i need some scenic elements which are two steep hills and two woods. Both count as rough going terrain.

The woods are displayed by a wooden hill...

...and a huge rock populated by great fir trees.

As steep hill terrain i use some grassy hills added with little self made rocks.

Because all rocks are movable they can declare a hill as rough/steep or as gentle hill. This give me the opportunity to take the same hill for different terrain types.

This idea was given me by MENIC whom all honour is due to.

Hope you like it. Comments, Hints and critics are welcome :)
