28mm DBA Pikemen stands...

Nothing spectacular but a little progress. The first two DBA stands for the first Impetus pikemen stand.

28mm Cretan archers and Agrianians for DBA & Impetus

Over the easter days I have found the time to read the Impetus rulebook. Nice stuff and some good ideas.

I decided to start an army - of course successors :) But which one I am not sure. So I begun painting stands that I can use for different successors and for my favourite game DBA too.

Units every army needs are skirmishers. I took a look in my glass cabinet and found two stands of Cretans in my 28mm DBA Seleucid army. I found also two stand of Greek Javeliners, half painted.

Okay got the basics and go!

Here they are, shields will be added in the future!

 In the background the older stands, in front the new stands. They build 4x2 Ps for DBA and 2 units of Cretan archers in Impetus!

 And the Agrianians in the front. They count in DBA as 2x2 Ps too. And some more pics...

DBA 15mm Pyrrhos himself and his fellows

I have done the generals base of my Pyrrhic army.

Pyrrhos himself reaches his command stand, greeting one of his officers.

DBA 15mm Pyrrhic - fifty percent done!

Yeeees, today I accomplished the sixt base of my DBA II/27 B Pyrrhic army.

Done are 2x4 spears, 1x4 pikes, 2x2 psiloi and 2x2 light horse.

I am currently working on the Gen's base(1x3 Kn) and have painted the musician and an officier, shown on the right:

Yesterday i painted a base of pikemen for my Pyrrhic/Alexandrian army. This is how the pikes look like:

It was not easy to paint the faces and some of the pikemen have strange poses. Anyway: a battle impression!

Some battle impressions

Somewhere in time, long long ago. During the reign of Pyrrhos of Epirus, close to the Epirote border, two small forces prepare for battle.

On the Workbench

Today i had the first time the chance to paint since three or four days. I painted some 15mm Thracians, 28 mm Greek skirmishers and rebased some older Numidian light horse which still need some spears, while the Greeks need some shields.

Sorry the picture is a little bit fuzzy but i hope you can realise what is shown. I am too tired now to make a new one. The picture shows the current status of these bases. If they are painted i will have 15mm Thracian Auxilia and Psiloi base, a 28mm Light Horse, a 28mm Aux (both miniatures in the middle) and a 28mm Psiloi(on the left).

The Thracians are from Xyston, Greeks by Wargames Foundry and the Numidians are from Gripping Beast.

1x3 Knights (General)

1x3 Knights (Median cataphracts)

4x4 Pikes (2x Pantadopoi, 1x Levy und 1x Argyraspids = Silvershields)

2x3 Auxilia (Agema on foot)

2x2 Psiloi (Cretan archers)

1x3 Warband (Thracian warriors)

1x Elephant

and one baggage element as part of the Ishtar gate.
